    A vintage necktie is opened up and taken apart.

    Cut and gathered

    The fabric is cut, folded and gathered into a new shape.

    Finished by hand

    Brooches, pearls and stones are chosen for that piece alone.

The maker

It started with her father's neckties.

Shellie Washington takes old ties apart and rebuilds them by hand in her Ohio studio, finishing each one with brooches, pearls and stones chosen for that piece alone. No factory, no second run.
